Donald Trump Campaign Spokesperson: Our Campaign Was Hacked

A foreign entity illegally obtained former U.S. President Donald Trump's campaign documents in an attempt to influence this year's election, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said. The Republican's campaign was hacked, he said.

Politico reported Saturday that it had received emails from an anonymous account containing campaign-related documents. Donald Trump.

“These documents were obtained illegally by foreign entities hostile to the United States with the intent of interfering in the 2024 election and sowing chaos throughout the democratic process,” Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement to CNN on Saturday.

Microsoft Report and the “Iranian Conspiracy”

Cheung pointed to a report published by Microsoft on Friday. The document shows that Iranian intelligence agencies have stepped up their attempts to influence the presidential election in USAcreating fake news sites aimed at liberal and conservative voters and attempting to hack campaign officials.

“The report comes after recent reports of an Iranian plot to assassinate President Trump. (It happened) around the same time as the Pennsylvania attack (the July 13 assassination attempt on Trump – ed.),” Cheung noted.

“The Iranians know that Trump as president will end their terror, continuing the actions he took during his first four years in the White House,” the spokesman for the former US leader stressed.

Iranian diplomatic mission at UNcommenting on Microsoft's report, said that it “does not give credence to such reports”. “The Iranian government does not hide any (its) intention or motive and does not interfere in the presidential elections in the United States,” the statement emphasized.

The White House said Saturday it condemns any attempt by foreign interference in the U.S. election. “As we have said many times, the administration Joe Biden and Kamala Harris strongly condemns any foreign government or entity that attempts to interfere in our electoral process or seeks to undermine confidence in our democratic institutions, said US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby.
