Donald Trump found a letter in his presidential desk on Monday in front of journalists. The sender was former President Joe Biden. On Tuesday, the new US president revealed some details about this correspondence.

On Monday night, a reporter asked Trump if Joe Biden he left a letter for him. – Maybe he did it. “Just a moment,” the American leader replied, then opened his desk drawer. “Oh, here it is,” Trump added, taking it out of the drawer envelope. When asked if he would open the envelope, he replied: “Maybe I'll read the letter myself first.”

The next day, Trump told reporters that he had opened the letter and that he was considering sharing it publicly. He said Joe Biden advised him to enjoy his term and emphasized the importance of the role.

Letter from the President of the USA

The outgoing US president leaving a letter for his successor is a tradition that has been going on for 36 years.

It was initiated in 1989 by Ronald Reagan, who, after two terms in the White House, left a letter to his replacement, George HW Bush, previously his deputy for eight years.
