On Monday, Donald Trump announced that he had pardoned the former police sheriff Culpeper, Virginia, Scott Jenkins. “I consider it appropriate to end his unfair sentence and give him a full and unconditional pardon. He will not go to prison tomorrow, and instead he will lead a wonderful and productive life” – wrote the president USA on your Truth Social platform.

53-year-old Scott Jenkins was convicted in December 2024. He was found guilty of accepting bribes for over 75 thousand. dollars in exchange for the nominations of people giving them – including local businessmen – for the positions of deputies of the sheriff and awarding them badges and references. “People who handed bribes have not been trained or verified and did not provide any legal services to the Sheriff Office or Culpeper Citizens,” the prosecutor's office was written.
In March this year he was punished with 10 years imprisonment. Jenkins appealed directly to Trump, asking for pardon. According to CBS, the former sheriff has been a supporter of a republican president for years.
In his post, the American president said that the sheriff, his wife and his whole family “were dragged by hell.” He also called him “the victim of the overzealous Department of Justice of Biden”, which “does not deserve to spend even one day in prison” and “a wonderful person who was persecuted by 'monsters' from a radical left.”
