Trump recommended the prosecutor general Pam Bondi to suspend the enforcement of the provisions of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (Act on corruption practices abroad) until new guidelines are issued. The decree also requires a review of current and past actions under this Act.
The Act of 1977 prohibits companies and people from USAor their foreign intermediaries, giving bribes to foreign authorities to acquire public contracts. The Act provides for a penalty of up to 5 years in prison and up to 100,000. dollars fine.
