Donald Trump's private plane flying to a rally in Montana on Friday made an emergency landing at Billings International Airport due to a technical problem, CBS News reported, citing airport officials.
The incident occurred Friday on the way to a campaign rally in Bozeman, Montana. Trump’s plane made an emergency landing at Billings International Airport, located about 150 miles (240 kilometers) from Bozeman.
The airport said Trump's plane “landed without incident” and the Republican then flew to Bozeman on a private jet.
CBS News reports that the emergency landing was caused by technical difficulties, but no details were released.
Trump Rally in Bozeman
Trump’s rally in Bozeman was scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. local time (12 p.m. in Poland), and his supporters had been lining up for hours to secure a spot. A plane problem delayed Trump’s appearance on stage an hour and a half.
Montana is considered a Republican stronghold; no Democrat has won the presidency there since Bill Clinton in 1992.
As CBS News notes, Trump's appearance at a campaign rally in the state was not only related to his presidential campaign, but was also intended to support Republican Senate candidate Tim Sheehy, who intends to regain the seat from incumbent Democratic Senator Jon Tester.
