– If PiS or anyone else harms the most obvious interests of Poland, I will respond firmly and there will be no caresses – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24. He referred to the Civic Platform's spot, which caused a lot of controversy last week.

The head of government was asked on Monday in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 about the Civic Platform spot published last week on social media with the caption “Russia's greatest success in Poland is PiS.” It shows faces in frames Vladimir Putin, Jarosław Kaczyński, later Antoni Macierewicz and other prominent Law and Justice politicians also appear in the frames. The spot also shows, among others: human skulls.

Tusk: I will answer firmly and there will be no caresses

– I will take all necessary actions, whether someone likes them or not, because this is about the future of Poland, to raise awareness, but also to defeat an opponent who is not my opponent, I mean mine too, but who is an opponent of everything in which I deeply believe that it is the best and virtually no alternative for Poland, he replied Donald Tusk.

– If someone is destroying the European Union, it is a direct threat to Poland, so I will fight hard, I will not put my foot down – he added.

The Prime Minister emphasized that “if PiS or anyone else harms the most obvious interests of Poland, I will respond firmly and there will be no caresses here.”

When asked whether the outrage over the spot is related to the fact that “it is believed that democrats are allowed less” than PiSthe Prime Minister replied that he himself, throughout his political life, “has been trying to convince all those who believe in freedom, in liberal democracy and in Europe as a system of political values, so that they are not powerless and not afraid to give up when someone intends to defeat them in this political confrontation.

He emphasized that for him these are fundamental issues and his entire generation fought for them. – So it would be an unforgivable mistake if we concluded that we are allowed less, in the sense that we will not engage in confrontation when it comes to the most important issues – he noted.
