This war was a German crime, the German Chancellor noted.

Scholz: Poland’s security is also our security

– Poland’s security is also our security – Scholz continued.

– We feel co-responsible for this. Guaranteed protection within FOR THIS is valid indefinitely. All for one and one for all. In connection with current events, I would like to say that any relativization of NATO’s mutual assistance guarantee is irresponsible and dangerous and only serves Russia – he continued. He added that “no one must jeopardize the security of Europe.”

– Germany makes a very significant contribution to European security, especially through its presence and involvement along the entire NATO flank. We will increase cooperation for the defense of the North Atlantic Alliance and for security in Europe. And this also applies to support for Ukraine, he added.

The German Chancellor also said that the EU’s agreement on an aid package for Ukraine in the amount of EUR 50 billion by 2027 is a signal sent to the USA. He expressed hope that the American Congress would also approve the necessary funds to support Ukraine.

Scholz: I propose that we give new impetus to the Weimar Triangle

Scholz also referred to the fact that Prime Minister Tusk came to Berlin from Paris. – Close cooperation between our three countries is very important to us, so I propose that we give new impetus to the Weimar Triangle in order to give new impetus to the European Union, he said.

– Our common goal is to expand the European Union to include further member states and we want this to become a reality soon. European Union We should emerge from this enlargement stronger, and for this purpose we also need reforms within the Union so that we remain able to act – emphasized the German politician. The German Chancellor also spoke about good Polish-German economic relations. He thanked Poland for supporting Germany in its efforts to maintain security of energy supplies when energy supplies from Russia ceased. – We cannot destroy efforts for energy transformation and the fight for climate protection – he declared.

Tusk: our first commandment should be caring for the unity of Europe

Then the Prime Minister spoke Donald Tusk.

– It is not the case that as soon as possible, we met not only in Brussels, but also here in the German capital to talk about bilateral cooperation between Poland and Germany, to talk about strengthening and giving new impetus to the Weimar Triangle – he said.

– Thank you also for talking so openly (…) about this most important need, which is the security of our homelands, the security of all of Europe, the security of our allies and neighbors. I am, of course, thinking primarily about Ukraine, said the Polish Prime Minister.

He emphasized that in the field of security cooperation, “our first commandment should be to care for the unity of Europe in the confrontation with Russia’s aggressive policy, in every dimension.” – Security has many dimensions. This is direct support for Ukraine in this war, this is the reconstruction of the real military power of Europe as a whole, this is a common energy policy. This is food security, Tusk said.

Tusk: we want Europe to obtain defense capabilities adequate to our capabilities

Tusk said that the talks with Scholz concerned, among other things, the intensification of Polish-German cooperation, but also, more broadly, European cooperation when it comes to air defense.

– We want to be very practical and realistic here. Together, as Europe, in cooperation also between Poland and Germany, we want to achieve as quickly as possible, i.e. not in 10-15 years, but in the next dozen or so months – much greater air defense capabilities, much greater production capabilities, if it’s not only about ammunition to help Ukraine, which is a priority today, but also for Europe to obtain defense capabilities adequate to our capabilities, said the head of the Polish government.

Tusk emphasized that we should believe that the European Union can be not only a civilizational, economic, scientific, but also military power. – This isn’t ours choice. We didn’t want any confrontation. This is a necessity, he pointed out. – The European Union is an economy eight times larger than the Russian economy, we have a population six times larger than Russia. There is no reason why we should be so clearly weaker militarily than Russia, he added.

– Increasing production, intensifying our cooperation – these are absolutely indisputable priorities – said the Prime Minister and emphasized that both in his conversation with Chancellor Scholz and earlier with French President Emmanuel Macron, he heard clear declarations of readiness for such intensification and full cooperation with Poland.

– Putin must and will see that there will be no such thing as Ukraine fatigue in Europe, he added.

Tusk: everything has changed in Polish politics when it comes to fundamental issues

At the press conference, Tusk was asked by journalists how he would respond to accusations that after the change of power in Poland, little had changed in some political areas.

– Everything has changed in Polish politics when it comes to fundamental issues such as the rule of law, position and power Poland in the European Unionalso issues very close to my heart, such as: human rightsminority rights – said Tusk.

He added that when it comes to nuclear energy, Poland will make decisions in accordance with its own energy interests. – As you know, we are ready and determined to act for climate protection, but Poland is in an extremely difficult situation. This is a very big challenge for Poland. (…) If we are to effectively move away from this most emission-intensive energy sector, we must continue working on an alternative, and nuclear energy is such an alternative for Poland – said the Prime Minister.

Earlier, Tusk talked to Macron in Paris

Earlier on Monday, the head of the Polish government visited Paris, where he talked with President Emmanuel Macron.

Also on Monday, the head of Polish diplomacy visited Paris Radosław Sikorski, who met there with the Foreign Ministers of France and Germany, Stephan Sejourne and Annalena Baerbock. These three countries form the Weimar Triangle. The meeting is intended to serve the purpose of renewing the formula of this structure, announced by Sikorski in January.

Created in 1991, the Weimar Triangle serves as a platform for cooperation and dialogue between Poland, Germany and France. Initially, it focused on supporting Poland’s political transformation and its integration with the EU. Currently, the meaning of the Triangle is evolving to respond to current political realities.
