The chairman of the Civic Platform stated at a Sunday press conference in Katowice that he intends to “lead the Civic Coalition team to victory” in the next election. The PO leader added that “the task of other democratic parties is also to compete effectively with, for example, a party like Konfederacja”, which he called “a radical extension of PiS”. The former prime minister assured that he kept his fingers crossed for the success of Poland 2050 and PSL.
The chairman of the Civic Platform at a press conference in Katowice was asked if he was concerned support for PiS and the Confederation, which has been growing in recent polls and the lack of a clear declaration on the joint start by the leaders of Poland 2050 and the Polish People’s Party, Szymon Hołownia and Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
– I would not call it anxiety, because if I was afraid of something or felt anxiety, I would not be suitable for the job I am doing at the moment – replied Tusk. – These are the realities. I have no doubt that until the last day you will have to put all your energy, all your faith to win these elections – he added.
Boss AFTER he noted that “nothing bad happened” here, because it was known that Confederation can count on a result of 8-10 percent. Tusk called this formation “a radical extension of PiS” and assessed that it was “extremely anti-European, anti-Semitic.”
“Fight for Victory”
That is why, as Tusk said, “the challenge of fighting for victory is so important.”
– I want to tell you that I intend to lead this team of the Civic Coalition to win, to take first place. It’s not about the gold medal, it’s about our ordinance giving the winners really the biggest bonus. But the task of other democratic parties is also to effectively compete, for example, with a party such as the Confederation, said the PO leader.
He added that this was an important task, “because if it were to happen that PiS and its affiliate would govern after the elections, then the prospect of leaving the European Union, the prospect of Polexit, would become not theory but practice.”
“I sent a text that I keep my fingers crossed for them”
Tusk also told what text message he sent “after this uproar, sometimes negative and emotional” around the movement of Szymon Hołownia and their talks with PSL. – I sent a text that against all the circumstances I keep my fingers crossed for them, really. I wish success to all those who share these key principles, the values we follow, he said.
– Even if sometimes some people may err politically, they may make some mistakes, I know one thing – that when I look at the leaders of the Left, at Mr. Szymon Hołownia, at Mr. Kosiniak-Kamysz, I see honest people, patriots who agree on the most important matters. I have no doubts about that,” he said.
In his opinion, “everything is to be done, everything is to be won, you just have to want it very much”. “I would love for others to feel the same way as I do,” he added.
