It doesn't take much imagination to understand that Europe is in a danger zone, said Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Monday after a meeting with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, who is in Poland. He expressed his intention for Poland to join the project that builds “a dome protecting our European sky against possible missile attacks.” He also said that the Danish Prime Minister reacted positively to this initiative.

On Monday afternoon, Prime Minister Donald Tusk met with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, who is visiting Poland. – We have another meeting on the future of Europe – Tusk said during a joint press conference.

He added that with the head of the Danish government “we share very similar views.” – On the most important issue, which is the security of Europe, the war caused by Russian aggression against Ukraine and the need for quick and effective assistance for Ukraine, not in the coming years, but in the coming days and weeks. All this connects Denmark and Poland, and the Prime Minister with me. We have here not similar, but identical views, Tusk said.

– Cooperation between Poland and Denmark is part of regional cooperation, and the role of the Prime Minister cannot be overestimated when it comes to consolidating the activities of the countries of the north-eastern region of Europe – said the head of the Polish government.

As he assured, Poland and Denmark will “guard the European Union's unambiguity in assessing events in the East.” – We will cooperate today and in the future on a uniform, clear and honest EU position towards the war in Ukraine, we will be among those who help and mobilize others to help Ukraine – Tusk said.

– Denmark and Poland exclude any other scenario than the one thanks to which Ukraine will maintain its integrity and independence – emphasized the Polish Prime Minister.

Tusk wants Poland to join the countries building the “dome”

Tusk indicated that he had talked to the Danish Prime Minister about “cooperation among some European countries to build an iron dome, i.e. a shield against missiles and drones.” – As you know, Denmark, Germany, and Great Britain, among others, are cooperating in the European Union on a NATO, of course, but European air defense system against drones. Recent events, especially the latest attack by Iran on Israel, have confirmed once again how important it is to have this type of installation. There is no reason for Europe to be deprived of an effective anti-missile and anti-drone shield, Tusk emphasized.

He added: “Let's just imagine for a moment what Israel would be like today if it weren't for the dome that protects Israel from rocket attacks.” – And it doesn't take much imagination to understand that Europe is also in the danger zone. Therefore, I am glad that the Prime Minister responded positively to my intention for Poland to join the project in Europe, which will effectively and should build much faster than before a dome protecting our European sky against possible missile attacks – said the Prime Minister of the Polish government.

– We will certainly cooperate here in any format that brings us closer to this goal – he added.

Last week, Tusk met, among others, with the President of the European Council Charles Michel, the Prime Minister of Estonia Kaja Kallas, the Prime Minister of Luxembourg Luke Frieden and the Prime Minister of Greece Kiriakos Mitsotakis.
