Donald Tusk wants to know what didn't work in connection with the flood. Unofficially: there will be resignations

Answers to questions about what management and communication between services looked like in the flood-affected areas cannot and must not be swept under the carpet.

– Only those who do nothing make no mistakes – says Krzysztof Paszyk, Minister of Development and Technology from the Polish People's Party-Third Way. – We were dealing with an element. Many experts assess that the scale and intensity of the water that suddenly poured in was exceptional – he adds.

– There was communication, because the services were able to communicate with each other – assesses the deputy prime minister and minister of digitalization from the Left Krzysztof Gawkowski. However, local government officials have reservations about . – I have the feeling that in many places people simply let down with their emotions – comments Gawkowski.

The Prime Minister is demanding specific information from ministers and local government officials. Donald Tusk wants to know how communication was conducted and how specific localities were prepared for the flood.

– One of the consequences of the flood must be a very precise map of omissions, neglect, and bungling – emphasizes Prime Minister Donald Tusk. – Because we, as a state, must have honest, objective, reliable signals about where something is wrong – he sums up.

– I had no knowledge that the dam had burst in any way – admits the mayor of Kłodzko, Michał Piszko. – Terrible chaos resulting mainly from the fact that we had no information, reliable information from the reservoir manager, from Polish Waters from Wrocław – indicates the mayor of Nysa, Kordian Kolbiarz.

The mayor of Kłodzko learned about the dam burst in Stronie Śląskie from a local journalist, not from the Polish Waters responsible for it. – At that time, it was still possible to communicate with mobile phones. The fundamental question is for the dam operators, whether there was anyone there personally – emphasizes Michał Piszko.

The Polish Waters authorities explain that the wave that hit the reservoir was four times higher than it was prepared for, and that the causes of the failure must be investigated in detail. In the matter of communication, Polish Waters claims that they passed on information about the need to evacuate, and after the communication went down, they used the municipal guard to do so.

The prosecutor's office is already dealing with the institution's actions in connection with the flood. – Information about what happens when – that was missing. We had to ask for it. We had to practically tear the data out of our throats – says Kordian Kolbiarz.

The mayor of Nysa also blames Polish Waters for the situation in his city, as they – as they say – increased the discharge of water from Lake Nysa without warning, which allegedly led to the flooding of the city and chaos during the evacuation.

Polish Waters denies the allegations, claiming that their actions were planned and appropriate. – We also have to reckon with the fact that sometimes such an element is completely unpredictable. Various things happen and we cannot influence everything, but we will definitely work on it – says Joanna Kopczyńska, president of the State Water Management Company Polish Waters.

– All these matters must be thoroughly explained – comments Dariusz Klimczak, Minister of Infrastructure from the Polish People's Party-Third Way.

According to our unofficial information, after an inspection ordered by the Prime Minister in the institutions responsible for communication and forecasts, there will be a resignation.
