Donald Tusk announced the reconstruction of cooperation between Poland, France and Germany within the Weimar Triangle. The Prime Minister stated that this format allows for cooperation on issues of security, defense and investments in the defense industry. PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński commented on Tusk’s announcement on Monday. – Playing politics, not politics – he commented.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Monday afternoon he arrived in Berlin, where he met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Earlier in Paris, the Polish Prime Minister talked to the President France Emmanuel Macron.

At a joint press conference after the meeting, Tusk and Scholz were asked whether there would be any cooperation schedule between Poland, France and Germany. Tusk emphasized that the Weimar Triangle would not make much sense if it consisted only of routine meetings or ceremonies. – From our point of view, the Weimar Triangle makes sense if everyone takes each other seriously and we try to solve real, specific problems together, the three of us – said the head of the Polish government.

The Prime Minister emphasized that “the triangle – Warsaw, Berlin, Paris – can set a positive tone for various changes and various European ventures.” – If we take seriously, and I am very determined here, the issues of security, defense, investments in the defense industry, in joint ventures also in the territory of Ukraine regarding security, this will really change Europe’s position and capabilities in confronting the greatest challenges and threats, Tusk noted.

Kaczyński: playing politics

The president of Law and Justice commented on the announcement of an attempt to rebuild the Weimar Triangle on Monday Jaroslaw Kaczynski.

The leader of the United Right assessed it “as playing politics, not politics.”

Scholz: we want to give new impulses to the Weimar Triangle

Chancellor Scholz said that the Weimar Triangle is a good format for cooperation. – We have already discussed together that we want to give new impulses to this format – he noted.

– I think there is good cooperation between Germany, Poland and France. And this is something good for all of Europe. Therefore, we will try to get everything we can from this format, emphasized the German Chancellor.

Created in 1991, the Weimar Triangle serves as a platform for cooperation and dialogue between Poland, Germany and France. Initially, it focused on supporting Poland’s political transformation and its integration with the EU. Currently, the meaning of the Triangle is evolving to respond to current political realities.
