We will restore the buffer zone approximately 200 meters from the border, where it is necessary for the effective operation of the services, said Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who arrived at the border on Wednesday and met with the command of the uniformed services.

After the briefing, the politicians made a joint statement. – In every situation – especially as dramatic as an attack on our soldier who is fighting for his life – I want you to know that the Polish state, everyone without exception, is on your side – said the Prime Minister to the officers defending the border.

– We are all united on this issue, there will be no hesitation when it comes to support – emphasized Donald Tusk.

– We have made a joint decision, together with the military command, the Border Guard and the police, that we will activate all means in terms of logistics, in terms of equipment, also legal means, to ensure that your service here is a safe service, from the state's point of view, safe, as possible, from your point of view, and effective when it comes to the goal of your mission, i.e. border protection, said the Prime Minister.

– Today, those who serve with you here every day recommended that we restore the buffer zone in the approximately 200-meter strip as quickly as possible, where it is necessary for the effective operation of Polish state services at the border. Together with the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Interior and the entire government, we will make such a decision at the beginning of next week, Tusk announced.

Attacks on the border

In a short period of time, there have recently been three attacks on Polish officers on the Polish-Belarusian border. Near Dubicze Cerkiewne, a soldier was stabbed, and a few hours earlier, migrants attacked the Border Guard there with a knife attached to a stick. A soldier and a Border Guard officer were injured. An attack on border guards also took place in the area of ​​the Border Guard station in Białowieża.
