One person died as a result of heavy rainfall that has been in the southern and western parts of Spain for several days. In the last 24 hours, there were places where more than 100 liters of water per square meter fell.
The highest rainfall was recorded in the municipality of Cartaya in the Andalusian province of Huelva, where more than 121 liters of water fell per square meter, and in the area of the city of Zafra in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura. In the latter, rainfall reached 100 l / sq m.
The civil defense services of the Extremadura region said on Friday that heavy rain resulted in a serious road accident in which a 32-year-old man was killed. The announcement stated that due to the downpour the car of the injured person turned into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the truck.

In the city of Almendralejo, also in the Extremadura region, firefighters managed to save a kiosk worker from drowning, who was trapped by the swollen floods.
The services are constantly receiving requests for help in connection with the flood, incl. in the area of the city of Merida, where firefighters evacuated about 140 children from the flooded school. More than 3,000 students did not go to school on Friday in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura. In the entire region, where firefighters were called to rescue thousands of times, dozens of cars were sunk by the flood.
On Friday morning, the government of another Spanish autonomous community, Andalusia, experienced by the element, also reported numerous interventions by firefighters. He admitted that as a result of the flood there are over a dozen national roads. He announced the payment of compensation for people whose homes have been flooded, as well as for farmers whose crops have fallen under water.
