On the last night, heavy rainfall swept through Małopolska. According to the weather forecaster Arleta Unton-Pyziołek, there were places where 40 liters of water per square meter fell for 12 hours. The streets were flooded with water, and there was a landslide on the railway track.
Last night, heavy rainfall entered the country from noon. The front, which brought rainfall, is related to a small lowland moving over Podkarpacie towards Podlasie. According to the data, 40 liters of water per square meter fell in Podhale from Sunday evening to Monday morning (i.e. for 12 hours). More rainfall is forecast for Monday. There will be places where by evening rainfall can reach as much as 60-80 l / sq m. The synoptic said that they can be of a continuous nature. Locally, it can also thunder and rain can be intense.
According to forecasts, it will also rain on Monday night and on Tuesday, but the greatest rainfall will be forecast in the west of the region.
Flooded roads in Małopolska
As a result of night showers, the national road no. 75 in Witowice Dolne was flooded and is completely blocked. Police officers direct the traffic on detours – said Paweł Motyka, a spokesman for the fire department in Nowy Sącz, on Monday.
The detour for trucks was marked out by the voivodeship road No. 975 through the village of Zakliczyn. Passenger cars are driven on a detour through Gródek Nad Dunajcem.
As a result of night showers, Węgierska Street in Stary Sącz was also flooded.
There was a landslide
The ground collapsed on the Żegiestów – Andrzejówka railway line. Railway traffic has stopped. Substitute bus communication was introduced there.
