Sunday was a very rainy day in Poland. The fire brigade recorded over 300 interventions. Calls for help concerned mainly flooding of roads and buildings. Most of them were recorded in Mazovia.
On Sunday, the weather in eastern Poland was rainy, and in some places it was expected storms. They were in force in several voivodeships alerts from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management.
Until 16, firefighters recorded 302 interventions throughout the country related to flooding of roads and buildings after rainfall – said on Sunday afternoon the press spokesman of the Chief Commander of the State Fire Service, Brig. Karol Kierzkowski. The number of interventions increased significantly – until 11, 170 trips to help were recorded.
Kierzkowski said that the largest number of interventions due to heavy rains took place in the province. Masovian Voivodeship – 142, including in the capital itself – 113.
The next voivodeships in the statistics of trips to floods are: voivodeship. Silesia – 46 events and voivodeship Opole Voivodeship – 17 – indicated the spokesman.
It’s raining heavily in Podlasie
Due to heavy rainfall, many streets and sidewalks in… Białystok it was flooded. Internet users and local media reported before noon that difficulties occurred, among others: on the street Branicki, Piastowska, Świerkowa, Wierzbowa and Żeromski.
– From the early morning hours, when we received reports and the City Guard noticed that there was more water in some parts of Białystok, the company responsible for taking care of the city’s sewage system was immediately informed and it reacts and cleans the wells on an ongoing basis – said the spokeswoman. President of Białystok Urszul Boublej. She added that when it stops raining, the water level decreases. She noticed that the situation was made worse by leaves falling from trees and blocking the wells.
Due to the downpours, the fire brigade went to flooded basements in Białystok. According to the spokesman of the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Białystok, Piotr Chojnowski, firefighters were pumping water from the basement in the curia building at ul. Kościelna as well as one of the buildings of the Białystok University of Technology at ul. Spruce. These were not serious incidents.
Heavy rainfall in the Łódź region
IMWM reported that by noon heavy rainfall covered the following poviats: Bełchatów, Brzeziny, Łaski, Łowicz, eastern Łódź, ŁódźPabianice, Pajęczański, Piotrkowski, Piotrkow Trybunalski, Radomsko, Rawa, Skierniewice, Skierniewice, Tomaszów, Wieluń, Zduńskowola and Zgierz. “There are moderate rainfall in places,” meteorologists from IMWM reported around 12 noon. The rainfall zone moved north and gradually weakened. – The next zone advances from the south, but the rainfall intensity is lower and the forecast rainfall may amount to up to 15 l/m2. – they conveyed.

Dangerous in Masovia
As Artur Kamiński, junior brigadier from the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service of the Capital City of Warsaw, said in an interview with tvnwarszawa.pl Warsawinterventions in Mazovia mainly concern flooded underground garages, basements and streets.
– The worst situation is in Śródmieście, where we recorded 11 reports, and in Targówek, where we intervened eight times. Currently, there is no district from which no notification has been received – Kamiński described shortly after 10 a.m.
