The prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into the press conference of ministers Mariusz Kamiński and Mariusz Błaszczak and the spokesman of the minister’s secret services coordinator Stanisław Żaryn, Gazeta Wyborcza reported on Friday. In September 2021, members of the government showed controversial materials about migrants. At the order of the court, the investigators will check whether there was, among other things, abuse of powers and dissemination of pornography, the newspaper reported.

On September 27, 2021, the ministers of interior and administration Mariusz Kaminski and national defence Mariusz Blaszczakand the spokesman for the minister coordinator of secret services, Stanisław Żaryn, presented at a press conference drastic materials that were supposed to be found in the phones of migrants who managed to get to Poland. Among other things, a man copulating with an animal and armed people were shown.

It was an intense time migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border. Doubts of activists for human rights and opposition politicians were aroused by the interventions of the Polish services against people trying to cross the border posts. There were numerous opinions that the conference and the materials presented during it were intended to discredit migrants. Among other things, there was talk of “scandal” and “emotional blackmail”.

The court ordered the prosecutor’s office to initiate proceedings

Only now, as “Gazeta Wyborcza” reported, the prosecutor’s office initiated an investigation in this case at the request of the Warsaw district court. The proceedings concern possible abuse of powers, dissemination of pornography and unlawful threats against migrants by Kamiński, Błaszczak and Żaryn, the daily wrote.

Investigators will investigate, inter alia, whether there was a “storage and dissemination”, as well as “presentation” of pornographic content “involving minors and the handling of the animal” in such a way that it could impose its reception on people who did not wish it, which acted to the detriment of the public interest’, the newspaper’s publication reads.

Another thread of the investigation is to concern “the use of an unlawful threat against migrants on the Polish-Belarusian border due to their national, ethnic, racial, political and religious affiliation”, as well as “public calls to commit this act and suspicions of ‘hate against the background national, ethnic and racial differences, or publicly praising this act’, inform the journalists of “Election”.
