Five cars were burnt in a night-time fire in a car repair shop and paint shop in Droglewo (Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship). The losses were estimated at half a million zlotys. Firefighters worked for more than four hours. Nobody was hurt in the incident.
The fire took place in the village of Drogolewo in the Węgorzewo district. Firefighters received the call shortly after midnight on Thursday.
– At 00.17, the duty officer of the Control Station of the Poviat Commander of the State Fire Service in Węgorzewo received a report about a fire in the paint chamber. After the first team arrived at the scene, firefighters found a developed fire in the car workshop with a paint chamber in which there were five passenger cars – said junior brigadier Ireneusz Lalak, press officer of the Poviat Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Węgorzewo.

He added that after securing the area of operations, the firefighting operation began, which lasted more than four hours. Police and power plant workers were also at the scene.

Millions in losses
The duty officer of the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Olsztyn told PAP that there were no large amounts of chemicals in the building, and there was no need to test the air purity.

The paint shop where the fire broke out was located in such a way that the fire did not threaten other buildings. Losses were initially estimated at PLN 1.5 million. The causes of the fire will be determined in the investigation.
