If Putin wants Russian soldiers to die en masse in Ukraine, everything must be done to ensure that Mr. Putin's expectations are met, that is, for Russia to suffer a defeat in Ukraine, President Andrzej Duda said on Saturday.

President Andrzej Duda met with journalists on Saturday morning before flying to the peace summit in Switzerland. He referred, among other things, to Putin's ultimatum regarding war in Ukrainewhich he called “devastating demands and sky-high claims.”

– Thus, he showed the entire international community the quintessence of brutal Russian imperialism – said the Polish president. – Sky-high demands for an independent, sovereign state, areas that today are not actually under Russian occupation at all, areas from which Russian troops were expelled by Ukrainians. Today, Putin demands them and demands that they be incorporated into the Russia. This alone, I hope, will be sufficient proof, also for the whole world, of what Russian intentions really are, he continued.

– That this is simply a brutal attack on an independent, sovereign state, that these are unjustified territorial demands towards Ukraine. After the occupation of Crimea began in 2014, after repeated violations of international law, Russia today says: yes, we will continue to violate international law, yes, we have great respect for it, we simply don't care about the entire international order, we don't care about any agreements, we will implement our interests, we will continue to kill in Ukraine, we will continue to fight in Ukraine, he added.

– I hope this is sufficient proof, also for the countries of the free world, including us, that Ukraine should be supported, he said. – And if Putin wants Russian soldiers to die en masse in Ukraine, everything must be done to ensure that Mr. Putin's expectations are met, that is, for Russia to suffer a defeat in Ukraine – said Andrzej Duda.

Putin's ultimatum

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in a statement during a meeting with management on Friday Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow, he again blamed the West for the war in Ukraine. He stated that Russian troops were standing near Kiev in 2022, but “there was no decision to storm the city,” reports the TASS propaganda agency. In this way, the Russians allegedly wanted to “force Ukraine to negotiate.”

Putin said that Russia will be ready to start negotiations when Ukrainian troops are completely withdrawn from the so-called Donetsk People's Republic and Luhansk People's Republic and Kherson and Zaporizhia Oblasts. These are regions of Ukraine that Russia announced its annexation after launching a full-scale attack on the country.

– Moscow will hold fire and be ready for talks when Kiev begins to withdraw troops and commits not to join FOR THIS – said Putin. He presented “a neutral, non-bloc, non-nuclear status of Ukraine” as a necessary condition.

Among his conditions, he also listed the lifting of all Western sanctions against Russia and the approval of the status of Crimea and other annexed parts of Ukraine as Russian territory in international agreements.
