Arrest for the driver after a tragic accident near Pułtusk, in which a 66-year-old man died. The 53-year-old was driving drunk, he had no license.

The tragic accident took place last Sunday around 10 am in the village of Wielen, in the commune of Winnica.

According to the Mazowiecka Police, officers working at the scene determined that the driver of the Volkswagen on a straight section of the road lost control of the car, drove off to the side of the road and then overturned.

“He was accompanied by a 66-year-old passenger, who unfortunately died on the spot as a result of the incident, while the driver with injuries was taken to the hospital. In addition, it turned out that the 53-year-old resident of the Legionowo district was intoxicated. He had nearly two alcohol and did not have a driving license, police said in a statement.

“The evidence collected by the officers allowed him to be charged with causing a fatal accident and driving while intoxicated” – they add.

At the request of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Pułtusk, the court imposed a preventive measure on the suspect in the form of pre-trial detention for a period of three months. A man found guilty of causing a fatal accident while under the influence of alcohol could face up to 12 years in prison.
