Polish Humanitarian Action has launched a fundraiser to help victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. The PHO’s Immediate Aid Team will go to Turkey to assess the scale of needs and start providing assistance.

A strong earthquake hit Turkey and Syria on Mondayin which thousands of people died. The Polish Humanitarian Action announced that the Immediate Aid Team will go to Turkey to “assess the scale of needs and immediately start providing assistance”.

“The immediate response team will reach the most affected region on Wednesday morning – PAH will cooperate in providing support with local partners,” the organization said. “The most urgent needs are to provide a safe, warm shelter – many houses are in danger of collapsing, there are many aftershocks – as well as food and hygiene items” – it added.

The Polish Humanitarian Organization launched a fundraiser, to raise the funds necessary to finance the immediate relief of earthquake victims from Turkey and Syria.

“According to estimates, as many as 12 million people may be affected by the disaster, including 2 million Syrian refugees residing in these areas. The Kahramanmaras province and the surrounding area within a radius of 400 km suffered the most. Thousands of residential buildings were destroyed, as well as schools and hospitals in Malatya and Hatay” – we read in the description of the collection on the siepomaga.pl website.

The Polish Humanitarian Organization has been operating for 30 years

Polish Humanitarian Action is a non-governmental organization that has been helping people affected by humanitarian crises around the world since 1992. In December last year, it celebrated its 30th anniversary.
