After eight matches played, the Kielce team has nine points and is in 11th place in the table. This is a result that until recently seemed unattainable for Korona. After all, the season started with two points in five matches, the coach being fired and chaos in the club related to changes in the office.
Korona Kielce has a huge problem. The stadium roof needs to be replaced. It has to be done before winter
It might seem that Korona can currently focus primarily on football. Nothing could be further from the truth. The stadium where the Kielce team plays – Exbud Arena – must have its roof replaced. This is all because of the storm that hit Kielce in July. One of the polycarbonate panels that make up the roof was damaged by hail. – In the summer, the stadium with the damaged roof could be used, but before winter, the roof covering must be replaced with a new one – says the portal quoted echodnia.eu PrzemysÅ‚aw Chmiel, director of the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre in Kielce.
Why was it possible to play in the summer, but will it be a problem in the winter? – Holes have been created through which water flows in, stops on subsequent layers, gradually evaporates or flows out naturally and there is no major problem. In the winter, when temperatures drop below zero, the water will start to freeze and during this process it will increase in volume and the ice will damage the remaining layers of the roof covering – explains the director of the Kielce MOSiR. – Then it will be so damaged that it will no longer fulfill its function. The roof must be replaced in its entirety before winter. It is not possible to dismantle just one layer of the panels because they are bonded together – he adds.
The costs of replacing the roof are considerable – they amount to three million zÅ‚oty. The problem is that MOSiR has not yet received the money from the insurer. – In such a situation, we are forced to apply to the City Council for the necessary amount from the city budget and after receiving the compensation, we will return it – reveals Chmiel.
When can we expect the works to start and end? The relevant tender has already been announced. – We estimate that the roof replacement will take about two months – adds director Chmiel. The echodnia.eu portal adds that the councillors are to decide on the allocation of money for the repairs on Wednesday, September 18.
Korona Kielce will play away in the next round of the Ekstraklasa. Their rival will be Radomiak Radom. This is one of the key rivals in the fight for a peaceful survival in the league.
