At At 12.00, the water level in the Elbląg River was 625 cm – the alarm level was exceeded by 15 cm. The hourly water increase is approximately 3-4 cm.

– All services are on standby. The level of the Elbląg River has been monitored on an ongoing basis since yesterday, assured Joanna Urbaniak, press secretary of the Elbląg city hall.

Urbaniak appealed to residents to be careful and follow information on the weather situation. In emergency situations, people should call the emergency number – 112. There is also a 24-hour Crisis Management Center in Elbląg at 55 239-30-40, 55 239-30-41.

– The prognosis is good. I hope that this situation will definitely improve in the evening. I keep my fingers crossed for that, Missan reassured.

Backwater in Żuławy Wiślane

Due to the phenomenon of the so-called backwaters in Żuławy Wiślane, firefighters placed sandbags along rivers in several smaller towns, including: Suchacz.

– An operational group of the provincial commander was sent to the Elbląg district to support monitoring the situation. Provincial reserves are on alert. The situation is under control, assured Grzegorz Różański, spokesman for the Warmian-Masurian Fire Department.
