A 64-year-old woman died in an apartment fire on Malborska Street in Elbląg (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship). The police, under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office, are investigating the circumstances of this tragedy.
On Friday after midnight, firefighters received a report of a fire in an apartment in a three-story building on Malborska Street in Elbląg. Three teams took part in the activities.
“After reaching the site, firefighters found a fire in an apartment in which one person was staying. The actions consisted of securing the scene and evacuating an unconscious woman with no vital signs outside the building. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was started. Despite the help provided, together with the medical rescue team, they failed save the life of a 64-year-old woman,” said the City Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Elbląg.
Elbląg. An evacuation was necessary
As the Elbląg firefighters added, fire-fighting activities were carried out simultaneously with the evacuation, consisting in administering water to the interior of the building, thanks to which the fire was extinguished.
‘Then, part of the burnt floor was dismantled to exclude fire spots. Before the firefighters arrived, 10 people evacuated from the building. Two apartments that were damaged were excluded from use by construction supervision,” firefighters informed.
The causes and circumstances of the fire will be clarified by the police investigation.
