Police officers from Elbląg (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship) detained a woman who set fire to garbage shelters in one of the housing estates. The 35-year-old pleaded guilty. She explained her behavior as emotional instability resulting from a quarrel with her partner. A request for temporary arrest was made against the woman. The court will decide on her further fate.
Police officers from Elbląg have recently been working on a case related to the arson of garbage shelters in the Nad Jarem housing estate. Over the weekend, they detained a 35-year-old woman.
– The woman admitted to the crimes she was accused of. In a conversation with the police, she explained that she did it as a result of emotions related to quarrels with her partner, said Krzysztof Nowacki from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Elbląg.

The 35-year-old is accused of setting fire to 11 garbage shelters. An application for temporary arrest was made against her. – The court will decide on her further fate. She may face up to 5 years in prison for damaging property by arson, Nowacki said.

A series of arsons in Elbląg
Arsons have been taking place over recent weeks. In mid-June, firefighters extinguished a fire in one of the shelters. There were significant losses.
“There were no injuries reported in the incident, but the garbage shelter and two vehicles were completely destroyed, and five more vehicles were damaged as a result of high temperature,” the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Elbląg said in a press release.
