A woman from Słupsk called, claiming that she lived in Gdańsk and had been kidnapped. The police found out that the 13-year-old from Elbląg (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship), together with his friends, wanted to make fun of others by calling random people and talking about a fictitious kidnapping. The case will now be dealt with by the family court.
On New Year’s Eve, a resident of Słupsk received a phone call from an unknown woman who asked her for help. She said she lived in Gdańsk and had been kidnapped. The woman from Słupsk immediately informed the police.
“The officers determined that the telephone number from which the call was made was registered to a resident of Elbląg. The local police station was contacted and police officers were sent to the indicated address,” we read in the police statement.
The joke will end in family court
The officers determined that the owner of the phone had not been kidnapped and did not need help, and that her 13-year-old son was using the phone.

“In a conversation with the police, the boy admitted that, together with his friend, they called randomly selected people that day and informed them about the kidnapping of the young woman,” the police report.
The officers prepared documentation of this incident. The case of the 13-year-old and his friend will now be dealt with by a family court.
The police reminds that unjustified involvement of the police, ambulance or other emergency services is an offense with legal and financial consequences.
