Mirosław Lech has been the mayor of the Korycin commune in Podlasie for 33 years – and he has just won another term. This time, however, he felt his opponent's breath on his neck, because the result was decided by exactly one vote.

732 people (50.03%) voted for the incumbent mayor. Beata Matyskiel was a hair's breadth away from victory, trusted by 731 voters (49.97%).

The candidates also slightly differed in their results in the first round – then Lech won 629 votes and Matyskiel 615. The result in the second round of elections could have been influenced by the candidate's decision to refuse to participate in the debate on Polish Radio Białystok, which was reported by the station.

Mirosław Lech has been the mayor of Korycin since 1991, currently he belongs to the Poland 2050 party. This will be his ninth term.
