Elections 2023. KO, Third Way and the Left want to form a government. Joanna Mucha and Monika Rosa about the agreement

After elections parliamentary elections, the democratic opposition will have 248 seats in the next term of the Sejm. The National Board of the Civic Platform decided to entrust the mission of creating a new government Donald Tusk. Head of the KO club Borys Budka he said that the board authorized the chairman of PO to enter into coalition talks with Third Way and the Left.

MP Monika Rosa from the Civic Coalition and MP from Trzecia Droga Joanna Mucha were asked on Thursday in “Fakty po Faktach” whether these three electoral committees will reach an agreement.

– Almost 12 million votes of citizens gave us, then the opposition parties, and now ultimately the parties that will form the government, a huge credit of trust and showed their preferences. They also voted for the parties so that we all crossed the electoral threshold and had the opportunity to form a coalition government, said Rosa.

– It’s not like one of the parties will put a veto and say: “no, if you don’t implement it, it means there is no government coalition” – she added. – We really have much more in common, which we have shown in recent years by working together in the Sejm, in committees, meeting and agreeing on programs – said the MP.

She argued that “this government will be formed and there is no doubt about it.” – However, we have a huge task ahead of us. It is a huge responsibility to have the eyes of almost 12 million people who said, after eight years of torment, evil, hatred, hate in the public media, and robbing us at every step: “give us normality and give us freedom,” said Rosa.

Mucha also assessed that these three committees had more in common. – PiS wanted to create such a Pole from a cookie cutter. He wanted to create a unified Pole who would have a certain set of features. And we have said all along that diversity is good. People are different and therefore they also need different political offers, she specified.

– We have been talking about it all along, that there are those who need the offer she gave civil Platform, there are those who needed our offer and there are those who needed the Left’s offer. And that was good. We said all the time: we march separately, we attack together. And it worked. Ultimately, this strategy paid off, she added.

The MPs referred to the invitation of electoral committees to consultations at the Presidential Palace next week.

Mucha said that “the leaders of all committees and parties that want to form a coalition government will send exactly the same information to the president.”

She said that she could still imagine that the president would receive these three committees and their leaders separately, but – as she added – “if he receives three unanimous declarations that we want to form a government together, we have a parliamentary majority, then the next step will be for the president.” “should be absolutely obvious – invite three committees and propose the formation of a government to the leader of this bloc.”

Rosa emphasized that “we are in times of crisis and delaying the appointment of a new government only deepens this crisis.”

– I’m not just talking about… war in Ukraine, I’m not saying that we have inflation and that we are waiting for money from the KPO, but many laws that are to come into force in the new year need regulations that, for example, support people with disabilities. Without the government, this simply won’t happen and people will be left out in the cold. Therefore, an appeal to the president: do not delay, just do it. The coalition government is clear, she said.
