Electric cars – where are they most popular in the EU? Eurostat publishes data

At the end of 2023, the average share of zero-emission cars in all vehicles in the European Union is 1.7%. Ten EU countries are above the average, and the remaining sixteen are below. In 14 of the 26 EU countries, the share of such vehicles is less than one percent.

As reported by Eurostat, cars Zero-emission cars are most popular in Denmark. At the end of 2023, they accounted for 7% of all registered cars. Sweden came in second, with nearly 6% of all such vehicles. Luxembourg rounds out the podium, with zero-emission cars accounting for 5.1% of all registered cars in that country. The following places were taken by the Netherlands (5%), Belgium and Austria (3% share each), Germany (2.8%) and Ireland (2.4%).

Electric cars – who in the European Union doesn't like them? Poland at the bottom

In the ranking of the share of zero-emission cars in EU countries, Poland was ranked 24th (out of 26 possible). In our country, at the end of 2023, zero-emission vehicles accounted for only 0.233% of all registered cars. Behind us, with a minimal difference, only Greece (0.209%) and Cyprus (0.201%) were ahead of Poland. It is worth noting that countries such as Slovakia, BulgariaRomania and Hungary.
