The proposed act on energy vouchers is to include provisions under which in the second half of 2024 a maximum electricity price for farms of PLN 500 per megawatt hour (MWh) will apply – according to the act on energy vouchers being developed.

On Tuesday, the List of legislative and program works of the Council of Ministers, published on the website of the Prime Minister's Office, included information on the proposed act on the energy voucher and on amendments to some other acts. “The draft act includes provisions extending the maximum price for electricity for household energy consumers. This price will apply in the second half of 2024 and is to be set at PLN 500/MWh. Energy companies will receive compensation for applying the maximum price,” we read in the information.

Who is the energy voucher for?

The currently applicable maximum price of electricity for households is PLN 412 net – excluding VAT and excise duty – per 1 MWh in the case of recipients who do not exceed the designated limits (depending on the number of children and whether there are disabled people on the farm or whether the recipient runs a farm, range from 6/12 out of 1.5 MWh to 6/12 from 2 MWh). “In the proposed wording of the provisions of the Act, the energy voucher will be a cash benefit for households whose income does not exceed PLN 2,500 per person in a single-person household or PLN 1,700 per person in a multi-person household,” we also read in the information on the website of the Prime Minister's Office.
