Ełk. Accident on the bypass. Parents died, two-year-old survived

A 33-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman died in an accident on the Ełk bypass (Warmia-Masuria Province). On Friday, a truck collided with a passenger car. A two-year-old boy traveling with his parents survived the accident and was taken to hospital.

The accident occurred on Friday at around 4 p.m. on a section of the S61 road, which is the Ełk bypass. According to the police, there were no direct witnesses to the event. The passenger car probably hit the back of a trio with a semi-trailer traveling in front of it.

– Two people travelling in a Nissan passenger car died: a 33-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman. They were accompanied by a child, who was almost two years old and was taken to hospital for examination. He was conscious – said junior asp. Agata Kulikowska de Nałęcz from the Ełk police. As she specified in an interview with tvn24.pl, the deceased were the boy's parents.

According to documents found at the scene by the police, the fatal accident victims were foreigners.

The man and woman who were traveling in the truck were not injured. They were sober.

The circumstances and causes of the tragic event are being investigated by the police under the supervision of the prosecutor.

The S61 road between Ełk and Nowa Wieś Ełcka was blocked for several hours and detours were organised.
