The policemen from the “Speed” group detained a 40-year-old driver who – along the streets of Ełk (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship) – was moving at over twice the speed that was allowed. It turned out that the man had already lost his driving license. Now he will be brought to trial.
According to Commissioner Agata Jonik from the County Police Headquarters in Ełk, at the end of July, a road patrol from the “Speed” group in an unmarked police car noticed a fast moving Porsche. Officers followed the car and recorded the car racing through intersections and pedestrian crossings at over 150 kilometers per hour.
– A man was driving at a speed of 154 km / h in a built-up area with a 70 km / h limit in the left-hand lane. The driver posed a real security threat – says Jonik. The policemen stopped the driver on Przemysłowa Street.
Earlier he had already lost his driving license
It turned out that a 40-year-old resident of the Podlaskie Voivodeship was driving the wheel. The man already had his driving privileges revoked because he exceeded the 24 penalty point limit. – He has numerous road offenses to his credit, including speeding, overtaking at an intersection, as well as causing a safety hazard in road traffic – reports the policewoman.
This time it will not end with the mandate. The case will go to a court, which may impose a fine of five thousand zlotys on the 40-year-old or decide on arrest. It can also take away the right to apply for a driving license for several years.
