The police have detained three men suspected of attacking a resident of Ełk with machetes. They are 23, 25 and 32 years old, who have been temporarily arrested. The motive for the crime was supposedly personal scores.

At the end of March in Ełk, three masked men beat a resident with machetes. They struck the victim with them, causing numerous wounds. After the attack, they fled.

The police arrested the first suspect the day after the incident. During a search of his apartment, machetes were found. Mephedrone was also seized there. – It was a man known to the injured party and it was only with him that the injured party was supposed to meet for a conversation that fateful evening – said junior cadet Agata Kulikowska de Nałęcz from the Ełk police.

The 23-year-old was charged with, among other things, assault with a dangerous object, threats, and forcing the injured party to behave in a specific way. He was temporarily arrested.

On Monday, the police announced that they had identified and detained two other suspects. They are men from Ełk, aged 25 and 32. The tests and expertise carried out confirmed that they took part in this dangerous incident.

– The attackers’ motive was a personal settlement with their victim, the police said.

The District Prosecutor's Office in Ełk presented the detainees with charges of participation in a beating with a machete and causing serious bodily harm. Both were temporarily arrested.
