Elon Musk at a meeting in France with Emmanuel Macron and Bruno Le Maire

Tesla boss Elon Musk attended the annual “Choose France” investor conference in Versailles. He said he was confident Tesla would make “significant investments” in the country. – We are in talks with Elon Musk, whose very wide portfolio of investments is widely known – said Bruno Le Maire, Minister of Economy and Finance of France.

– I am very impressed with the reception of the president (Emmanuel Macron and the French government have prepared for (representatives of) industry, Musk said after meeting with the Minister of Economy and Finance France Bruno Le Maire.

“We are in talks with Elon Musk, whose very broad portfolio of investments is widely known,” Le Maire said. However, he stipulated that “the content of these conversations, which are confidential, must remain secret for the time being.”

On Monday morning, President Macron received Musk at the Elysée Palace and, as he later announced on Twitter, he spoke with him about “the attractiveness of France (for investors) and about significant progress in the electric car and energy sector. And also about the regulation of the digital (sector).”

According to Reuters, Paris had previously sought Musk to build Europe’s only Tesla “gigafactory” in France, but it was built in Germanynear Berlin. As previously announced by AFP, Minister Le Maire was to provide Musk with details of the tax incentives for green investments that President Macron announced last week.

Investments in France

So far, as part of this year’s “Choose France” forum, investments in France worth EUR 13 billion have been announced and this is the largest sum declared during this conference since its first edition in 2018. Le Maire told reporters that each investment announced at Monday’s conference was preceded by “long months of negotiations”.
