The former US president and re-elect candidate for this position even before the event returned to X. On Monday, he encouraged people to watch a planned conversation with Elon Musk. This interview was quite specific, because it resembled an exchange of opinions between people who agreed on everything rather than an interview with a politician, but it's hard to be surprised. Musk is not a journalist and has long since openly and directly supported Trump in the US presidential election. His interlocutor, on the other hand, was simply himself, as can be seen, for example, in the topic of trains he raised.
Elon Musk Talks with Donald Trump. The Politician Complained About Trains
The technical issues themselves, according to Musk, were a DDOS cyberattack aimed at X (which he owns). The outage was brought under control after about an hour. It has not yet been confirmed that this was an actual attack, and not, for example, problems related to too many people logging in at once. However, the owner of X assured that the system had been tested earlier on Monday for such a circumstance. “This massive attack shows that there is a lot of resistance to people simply listening to what President Trump has to say, but I am honored to have this conversation,” Musk said.
The gentlemen spoke for over two hours. According to Trump, “60 or 70 million” people listened to them – at the same time, according to data from the X platform itself, it was 1.3 million. The former president ended by calling Musk “an amazing guy” and “a great inspiration”, announcing that they would repeat the conversation someday. The man returned the favor. “I think we are at a crossroads of civilization's destiny and we have to take the right path, I think you are the right path,” Musk said.
Earlier, Trump spoke, among other things, about the aforementioned transportation issues. He expressed regret that there are no high-speed trains in the US. In his opinion, “it makes no sense.” “They run incredibly fast, incredibly comfortable, without any problems. And we don't have anything like that in this country,” he said. He suggested that the way to implement this is the concept of tunnels, which Musk once proposed as part of his The Boring Company. Trump was quickly tested on this topic by Internet users and journalists. And as it turns out, during his term as president, the Department of Transportation canceled a subsidy of almost a billion dollars on the high-speed ground rail system in California.
Nuclear, not climate
Elon Musk also made some rather surprising comments in the context of global warming. At one point, his interlocutor stated that “nuclear warming” is the biggest threat – greater than climate change. It is not entirely clear what he meant here, whether it was nuclear energy or the risk of nuclear war – although the course of the conversation indicates that it was probably the former. Musk countered Trump's statement somewhat, noting that greenhouse gas emissions are a problem and will remain at a high level for decades, but adding at the same time “it's not like this fire“. In his opinion, fossil fuels and the industries related to them should not be demonized either.
These are quite interesting words coming from a man who based his business on “green” solutions. After all, he was the one who started the mass production of electric cars, and also promoted other technologies related to renewable energy sources (such as energy-sufficient houses, in which entire roofs are built from solar panels that look like roof tiles). Musk also defended nuclear power, emphasizing that it is not a dangerous technology, but Trump ultimately decided that the industry had a “bad reputation” and that perhaps its name should be changed.
Elon Musk wants to get into politics?
Elon Musk also offered his services to the Trump administration if the former president wins this year's election. In his opinion, a “government efficiency commission” should be created to oversee the rationality of government spending. The owner of X, Tesla, and SpaceX would like to be part of such a body. Trump's reaction indicated that he would be interested in such a proposal, and then added that he could use Musk's help in eliminating the Department of Education, which is one of the Republican candidate's campaign promises.
Both interlocutors were very critical and sometimes even offensive about Trump's election opponent, Kamala Harris. The former president called her “third-rate,” “incompetent,” and a “radical leftist lunatic.” Elon seemed to agree with the extreme leftist view. On the purely political issues of the interview we write in this text: The world's plushest interview. Elon Musk spoke with Donald Trump.
The Democratic Party candidate has recently taken the lead in pre-election polls, with the average of such surveys indicating her slight advantage, at 0.3 percent. Just before Biden withdrew from the race, Trump had a poll lead of over three percent.
Elon Musk is the richest man in the world. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, his net worth is $227 billion as of August 13. Donald Trump is also a billionaire, but a much more modest one – he has about $4 billion.
