Emmy Awards 2023. Nominations in acting categories

The race for the Emmys among actors and actresses promises to be very interesting. As many as eight nominations in the case of a drama series went to the stars of “Succession”. In addition to the aforementioned Cox, Culkin and Strong, Sarah Snook, J. Smith-Cameron, Nicholas Braun, Matthew Macfayden, Alan Ruck and Alexander Skarsgård also have a chance for the statuette.

Interestingly, in the category of the best supporting male role in a drama series, all eight nominations were shared by the stars of “Succession” and “White Lotus” (F. Murray Abraham, Michael Imperioli, Theo James and Will Sharpe).

As expected, Jennifer Coolidge received a nomination for her role in “White Lotus”. In the same category (Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series) four other actresses from the series appeared: Meghann Fahy, Sabrina Impacciatore, Aubrey Plaza and Simona Tabasco.

Emmy Awards 2023. Gala under question

The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards are scheduled for September 18. This year, the ceremony will be broadcast in the United States on FOX. Due to the Writers Guild of America’s Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike from May 2, the date of the ceremony may change.

The Academy has decided that if the strike continues into August, it will propose a postponement of the event. According to various media reports, the Academy would like to organize a gala evening in November. However, FOX prefers that the ceremony take place in January next year. This decision is related to the station’s previous commitments regarding the autumn schedule.

Due to the ongoing WGA strike, the 50th Daytime Emmy Awards – the sister awards to the Primetime Emmy Awards – scheduled for June 16, will be held at a later, yet unspecified date. If September’s Emmys don’t take place, it will be the first time in the history of the Emmys since 2001. Then the date of the ceremony was changed as a result of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
