British police arrested one person after the bodies of three residents were found on the premises of a nursing home in the English county of Dorset. The services are determining whether there was “gross negligence”. According to them, the main direction of the investigation is potential carbon monoxide poisoning.
Dorset County Police received a report after 7 a.m. on Wednesday about three residents found dead at Gainsborough Care Home in Swanage, the police said in a message on their website. As a precaution, the services took seven other people to the hospital, the remaining residents “were evacuated to a place where they could receive appropriate care,” the release added.

In an updated statement, the police announced the arrest of a 60-year-old resident of Swanage. The woman remains in custody. “As part of our investigation, we made one arrest to determine whether there was gross negligence and to gather as much information as possible about what happened,” said Chief Inspector Neil Third of the Major Crime Investigation Team, quoted by Sky. News.
The residents went to the church
The BBC reported on Wednesday that nearly 40 people from the nursing home were transported to a nearby church. “Many residents are vulnerable (…) and we are working with them to understand how we can meet their needs in the immediate term and what steps to take in the longer term,” Dorset Council said.
