On Saturday, under the slogan “The answer is love”, the Equality Parade passed through the streets of Śródmieście. Participants marched with the postulates of equality for the LGBTQ+ community and other minorities. During the colorful procession, some of the streets were closed to traffic.
After 14 o'clock the President of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski appeared on the stage set in front of the Palace of Culture and Science, as well as Left Politicians, among others, Katarzyna Kotula and Krzysztof Gawkowski.
– I am very happy that we gathered at the parade, once again under the patronage of the capital city of Warsaw. I have been saying for many years that we are building Warsaw, which is an open and tolerant city, in which these values are not only valued but also promoted. You need to promote tolerance, diversity and, above all, respect for everyone – said Trzaskowski.

– We will go through the streets of Warsaw, responding to hatred with love. We will go through the streets of Warsaw, responding to divisions with a community, union, sisterhood, brotherhood. We want to show that we are one, great force that says 'Nie' and who tells Grzegorz Braun, who destroys the beautiful colorful exhibition in the Sejm – emphasized Katarzyna Kotula, the Minister of Equality. Thus, she referred to last incidentduring which MEP Braun destroyed an exhibition dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community in the Sejm building. Kotula announced a notification to the prosecutor's office in this case.
– It was your strength and courage that gave me strength to act over the year. That is why a government bill was created on partnerships. He is there before the Council of Ministers, two steps before sending him to the Sejm – said Kotula. And she added: – I submitted a parliamentary project last week. Two draft act on partnerships. If not the door, it's a window. The answer is love.

“The answer is love!”
During the conference preceding the Saturday equality parade, its organizers emphasized that this is the largest event of this type in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe, a symbol of pride and struggle for the rights of LGBT+people.
– We do not want to talk about such matters somewhere in the underground, we do not want to hide on the basement – we go to the surface to talk about it. (…) Politicians do not necessarily keep up with us, our opponents do not necessarily keep up with us, but we are proud of it and today we will march precisely – said Rafał Dembbe, president of the Equality Volunteer Foundation.
The slogan of this year's parade is: “Love is the answer!” As the organizers said, love is a response to hatred and hate, which LGBT+experiences every day.
About these difficult experiences – also children and parents who create rainbow families – said during the conference Jowita Wycści and Anna Strzałkowska from the Rainbow Family Foundation.
– Not all children can count on equal rights. There are children whose rights we respect, and there are those we break every day ” – said Strzałkowska.” I will not talk today about how a child or mother feels who cannot see her son in the hospital, because the doctor, looking her straight in the eye, says: “You may be a family, but not here, not in Poland” – she added.
She emphasized that rainbow families demand equal rights for children: the right to both parents, to safety at school and on the street, to protect against discrimination. Jowita Ekciska added that they also want marital equality.
One of the demands of the march was also environmental protection. This year's parade took part – as the organizers emphasized – the only electric truck in Poland charged thanks to renewable energy sources.

Why did they march in the parade?
The Equality Parade has been passing through the streets of Warsaw since 2001, fighting for equality not only of the LGBTQ+community, but also all minorities. He demands equal rights and protection for everyone, including protection against discrimination and exclusion. “The state is obliged to conduct an active anti -discrimination policy covering all minority groups to provide protection against discrimination and exclusion,” we read on the Equality Parade website.
The rights of transgender persons are another of the extended demands. The organizers of the event postulate that the regulations make it easier for transgender to the process of medical and legal arrangement of sex, considering that the rights of transgender persons are human rights. They also apply for the right to marriages and partnerships, claiming that all citizens should have an equal right to entering partnerships, marriages and adoption of children regardless of sex or sexual orientation.
Gender equality is also a very important issue. “Women, men and persons must be treated evenly in every sphere of life, respecting reproductive rights, parities in employment and politics, and parenting support,” it was emphasized.
