ESPN NFL Reporter Chris Mortensen {Dead} at 72

The sports activities broadcasting world is in mourning.

Chris Mortensen, who labored as an NFL reporter and analyst for ESPN for greater than 30 years, died March 3, his household instructed the sports outlet. The award-winning journalist, who retired final yr, was 72.

Chris is survived by his spouse of 39 years, Micki Mortensen, 65, and their son Alex Mortensen, 38, a College of Alabama at Birmingham soccer coach and former quarterback.

Chris, an Military veteran from California, started his journalism profession as an investigative sports activities reporter for the Atlanta Journal-Structure, principally masking the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons. In 1987, he received the George Polk Award for reporting. All through his profession, he acquired 18 awards in journalism and was nominated for 2 Pulitzer Prizes.
