Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Peter Szijjarto, said that the tenth package of sanctions against Russia would harm Europe. According to the minister, the nine previous ones also caused damage.

Head of Hungarian diplomacy Peter Szijjarto due to its geographical location Hungary can become independent of external energy supplies only if the nuclear power plant in Paksu is expanded. Therefore, the government in Budapest opposes any sanctions against the nuclear sector or any that could hinder Hungarian-Russian cooperation in this area.

“The acceptance by the European Union of the tenth package of sanctions will only harm Europe, just like the nine previous packages,” argued the Hungarian foreign minister on Radio Kossuth.

Commenting on the words of the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, about the need for support Ukraine arms supplies, the politician assessed that the credibility of the EP “is practically zero”, and recent events have shown that it is “one of the most corrupt institutions in the world”.

– Hungary, which is a neighbor of Ukraine, has faced all the consequences of the war over the last year, including more than a million refugees, a rapidly growing inflation and tens of billions of euros higher energy costs, said Szijjarto.
