European Parliament elections 2024. Who is running from Warsaw? Here are the “ones” from district no. 4

In the elections to the European Parliament, the following people are fighting for the mandate from the first places in Warsaw and part of the Masovian Voivodeship: Michał Kobosko, Krystian Kamiński, Marek Woch, Tomasz Kwiatkowski, Marcin Kierwiński, Robert Biedroń and Małgorzata Gosiewska. What is worth knowing about the list leaders from district number 4?

The European Parliament elections will take place on June 9. We will elect 53 MEPs for the 2024-2029 term. In district no. 4, covering Warsaw and eight counties of the province. Masovian Voivodeship: Grodzisk, Legionowski, Nowy Dwór, Otwocki, Piaseczyński, Pruszków, Warsaw West and Wołomin, seven electoral committees put forward their candidates. Who was at the top of the lists and what is known about these people? Here are all the “ones” from Warsaw and surrounding counties.

LIST NO. 1. Michał Kobosko

“One” on the list Third Way is the Polish 2050 politician Michał Kobosko. Currently, he is an MP – in the parliamentary elections on October 15, he ran from Warsaw and obtained 61,452 votes.

Kobosko was born in 1968. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in management and leadership from SWPS University. In the 1990s, he started working as a journalist, where he remained for over 20 years. He worked, among others, in “Gazeta Wyborcza” and “Puls Biznesu”, he was the editor-in-chief of “Forbes”, “Newsweek”, “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna” and “Wprost”.

He got involved in politics in 2019 with the presidential campaign Szymon Hołowniaand later as a co-creator of Poland 2050, of which he is currently the first vice-chairman.

LIST NO. 2. Krystian Kamiński

Top of the list Confederation Krystian Kamiński, a member of the party, was there Confederation Freedom and Independence. Kamiński was an MP in the previous term – in 2019, he ran from Zielona Góra and won 14,251 votes. In the 2023 elections, despite a better result (15,815 votes), he failed to win a seat.

Kamiński was born in 1983 in Zielona Góra. He graduated in cultural studies from the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) and postgraduate studies in managing the protection of classified information at the University of Zielona Góra.

LIST NO. 3. Marek Woch

List Non-partisan local government officials opens by Marek Woch, a lawyer from Kąkolewnica in the Lublin Voivodeship, Radzyń County. Woch ran in the last elections to the Sejm from district no. 6 (Lublin), but the 2,500 votes he gained did not allow him to win a seat.

LIST NO. 4. Tomasz Kwiatkowski

LIST NO. 5. Marcin Kierwiński

Since 2020, Kierwiński has been the secretary general of the Civic Platform. In 2015, he was secretary of state in the prime minister's office Ewa Kopacz, and in 2010-2011, deputy marshal of the voivodeship. Masovian Voivodeship.

Kierwiński was born in 1976. He completed studies in biomedical electronics and management and marketing at the Warsaw University of Technology, as well as postgraduate studies in IT infrastructure management at the Institute of Organization and Management in Industry “Orgmasz”.

Kierwiński talked about his start in the European elections in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24: – We are still at war with PiS, a war for decency, the rule of law, and for settling what has been happening for eight years. And sometimes it happens that different soldiers are in different sections on this front. For five months I had the honor and pleasure of working in the government of Prime Minister Donald Tusk. A lot of things have been done when it comes to clearing up cases in the police, including settling accounts. I think most things are pointed in the right direction.

LIST NO. 6. Robert Biedroń

Warsaw list Left opens Robert Biedroń, who has been an MEP since 2019. He then won 96,388 votes and won a seat, running from the lists of the Wiosna party he founded in the same year. In the European Parliament, he became chairman of the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality, and also sits on the Budget Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Currently, Biedroń is co-chairman of the New Left, a group created from the merger of Wiosna and SLD. In the years 2011-2014, he was a member of the Sejm of the 7th term, elected on behalf of the Palikot Movement. He then ran from constituency no. 26 (Gdynia) and obtained 16,919 votes. In 2014, he was elected president of Słupsk, which he remained until 2018. Biedroń is also an activist for… human rights. He founded the non-governmental organization Campaign Against Homophobia, of which he was president in 2001-2009.

Biedroń was born in 1976. He graduated in political science from the University of Warmia and Mazury. She has been in a relationship with Krzysztof Śmiszek, current Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice, who is also a candidate in these elections, for over 20 years. European elections.

LIST NO. 7. Małgorzata Gosiewska

Małgorzata Gosiewska is running for the first place on the Law and Justice list. Currently, she is a PiS MP from Warsaw – she received 36,523 votes in the last Sejm elections. In the past, she was a member of parliament of the 5th, 7th, 8th and 9th terms. In the years 2019-2023 she was a deputy speaker of the Sejm.

Gosiewska was born in 1966 in Gdańsk. She has no higher education – she graduated from the Secondary School in Czersk. In the 1990s, it belonged to Porozumienie Centrum, and from 2001 to Law and Justice. As she admitted on her website, she was a close colleague Lech Kaczyński, who “was and is a huge authority for her.” Gosiewska was the first wife of Przemysław Gosiewski, who died in Smolensk disaster.
