– Negotiations are always the beginning. There is some preliminary conditions. An analysis of recent events was published on the website of the Eastern Studies Center, the head of the Russian team at OSW Marek Menkiszak. The conclusions discussed, among others Donald Trump's entry published on social media. According to Menkiszak, “the general pronunciation of Trump's entry is beneficial for Moscow.”

As noted by the OSW expert, “an indication of the energy sector as a topic of dialogue (…) may indicate a lower probability of tightening American sanctions against Russia in this sphere.”

As the OSW expert notes, Ukraine hoped to maintain US support “thanks to the planned signing of a contract with them regarding the extraction of local natural resources, including rare metals.” According to Menkiszak, this type of agreement will not happen, however.
