Eurovision – the Eurovision Song Contest – was founded in 1955, and its first edition took place in May 1956 in Swiss Lugano. In its 69 -year history, the competition was canceled only once – in 2020, in connection with the outbreak of Pandemia Covid-19. It is one of the longest broadcast television productions in the world and the longest -organized cyclical television music competition in history.

After last year's Nemo victory with the song “The Code”, the right to organize Eurovision 2025 received Switzerland. The competition takes place in Basel, namely in St. Jakobshalle. According to Reuters, 100,000 people in various parts of the city participate in Eurovision events.

37 countries entered this year's competition. However, in the final we will see 26 national teams: 20 of them won places in the semi -finals, and the remaining six are created by the “Great Five” – ​​France, Spain, Germany, Great Britain and Italy – and Switzerland – as an organizer.

This year Poland is represented by Justyna Steczkowska with the song “Gaja”. This is Steczkowska's second participation in Eurovision. For the first time she represented Poland in 1995 with the song “Sam”, taking 18th place. Return after 30 years to Eurovision means that Steczkowska set a new break of the break between the first and second participation in the competition.

The final is broadcast to many countries on all continents. Last year, Eurovision was watched by 163 million people. In 2015, during the 60th edition of the competition as a full participant, the representation took part Australia. It was the first case that a country that is not an active EBU member could take part in Eurovision.
