The head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, Michał Dworczyk, announced on Monday that the eighth plane with over 70 evacuees from Afghanistan will land in Warsaw on the same day, and another 100 people will arrive at night – another plane. He added that there will be over 500 Afghans evacuated in total.

– Today at 15.37 the eighth plane with over 70 evacuees from Afghanistan will land in Warsaw – said the head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister Michał Dworczyk at the Monday press conference. – Another Embraer will fly overnight with nearly 100 people on board. In total, it will be over 500 evacuated Afghans who will go to Warsaw – added the minister.

The head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister emphasized that the evacuation concerns Afghans who cooperated with Poland. – Afghans who have helped Poles in recent years during our mission in this country, helped soldiers of the Polish Army, helped Polish diplomats. Today, we help them and their families, ensuring that they can safely leave Afghanistan and avoid the threat – Dworczyk emphasized.

Dworczyk on possible attacks at the airport in Kabul

Dworczyk spoke about the current situation at the Kabul airport. “It’s getting more and more dangerous,” he emphasized.

– There is information about possible terrorist attacks around the airport and the influx of people who find themselves in this safe zone is smaller and smaller – said the head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

As he emphasized, evacuees receive help in Poland – first they are sent to a 10-day quarantine, and applications for refugee status “will be urgently examined”.

The hotel base will be used for assistance

As Dworczyk pointed out, in line with our declarations in this regard, we will also help European Union and NATO countries to evacuate people from Afghanistan. – Therefore, Afghan citizens will come to Poland, who will be able to stay here temporarily – up to three months, and then they will be transferred to the country of their destination, so the procedures will be completely different there – he explained.

He added that this is why their places of stay will not be limited only to the centers of the Office for Foreigners.

– All this means that they will be not only these permanent centers, but also the hotel base will be used for this purpose – Dworczyk told journalists

Evacuation from Afghanistan to Poland

People from Afghanistan are evacuated from Kabul to Uzbekistan by military planes, and then by civilian planes to Poland.

Poland is also to evacuate from Kabul 300 Afghans who collaborated with NATO. This was announced on Friday by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki after a conversation with the Secretary General of the Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg.

According to the decision of President Andrzej Duda, 100 Polish soldiers flew to Afghanistan to support the evacuation of Afghan collaborators of Poland and other NATO countries.
