The evacuation action from Afghanistan to Poland has ended. On Friday, two Hercules planes with Polish soldiers who had returned from a mission in this country landed at the military airport in Warsaw. At the airport they were greeted by the head of the Ministry of National Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak.
The Ministry of National Defense did not inform the TVN24 editorial office about the ceremony. As the press office of the Ministry of National Defense explains, it was not in time.
In order to support the evacuation of Afghan collaborators of Poland and other NATO countries, the Polish Military Contingent went to Afghanistan by the decision of President Andrzej Duda.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced that the evacuation action, which was organized for Poles and Polish associates from Afghanistan, ends that day.
Evacuations from Afghanistan
The evacuation carried out by the Polish services was carried out by military planes from Kabul to Uzbekistan, from where the evacuees were transported to Poland by the civil planes of PLL “LOT”. The first plane with evacuees landed in Warsaw on Wednesday, August 18. Ultimately, all six Polish citizens who turned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and several hundred Afghan collaborators of the Polish services were evacuated. Poland also evacuated collaborators of allied states and international institutions, including employees of the International Monetary Fund.
