Examining your breasts for cancer every year may not be enough. It's worth feeling yourself. Hence the “Let's Feel It” campaign.

Feel yourself carefully and systematically. All the ladies from the photos at the exhibition titled “The Power of Women” encourage this, because it is the “Map yourselves” campaign.

– Feel yourself once a month and these stories are proof that girls who felt it, who detected this disease at an early stage, underwent the treatment easier, simpler and less painful – says Anna Szołucha from the Kochasz Dopilnuj Foundation.

Mrs. Monika Smolińska found herself in time. She is happy and healthy. She has just returned from vacation. She had long known that she was at risk because her mother and grandmother suffered from breast cancer.

– I have a BRCA1 gene mutation and I decided to have a preventive mastectomy – the date was set, everything was agreed, and three weeks after the date was set, I felt a lump in my breast – says Monika Smolińska.

The lump you feel may be quite small and innocent, but malignant. Agnieszka Wywał, a councilor of the Capital City of Warsaw, knows this very well, as she has already undergone surgery to remove cancer – a malignant one.

– I found out last year in August, I felt it myself, found it myself, and I simply went to the doctor about it – says Warsaw councilor Agnieszka Wywał.

Marzena Gondek from Krakow cares very much about her health, but she wasn't sure about touching herself and now she regrets it – she is fighting cancer and undergoing chemotherapy.

– I had a breast ultrasound done every year. As a preventive measure, it is recommended to perform a breast examination every year, but this is too rare. I didn't do self-examination, which I now recommend to everyone after my experience – comments Marzena Gondek.

The experience of encountering breast cancer causes many women to rediscover their lives and begin to spread healthy attitudes. This is the case with Agnieszka Wywał, who is organizing a large campaign in Warsaw to promote preventive tests.

The “Power of Women” exhibition is available until October 6 at the LUFCIK Gallery at ul. Mazowiecka 11a in Warsaw. Its authors are Gosia Lakowska and Anna Szołucha, who felt for a tumor at the age of 23. This inspired her to get involved in campaigns raising awareness of the value of breast cancer prevention.
