Four people, including two children, died on Saturday in an explosion at a gas station in Grozny, the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Chechnya in Russia, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

On Saturday afternoon, a column of fire several meters high was visible above the gas station, and later there was a strong explosion. The recordings show a ball of fire rising high into the sky. It is not known yet what caused it.

The Mash Telegram channel reported that the blast killed three- and five-year-old children, their mother and a man, whose identity was not given. At least five people were also injured.

The leader of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, stated on Telegram that he had personally taken control of investigating the case and declared that the perpetrators of the explosion would be held accountable.
