There was an explosion at a hydroelectric power plant in the city of Kiskoere near Budapest on Monday. Eight people were injured in the explosion, the Hungarian emergency services reported.
The explosion occurred at a hydroelectric power plant located approximately 100 km east of the Hungarian capital.
Four men suffered severe burns and four others, including a woman, suffered minor injuries, mostly bruises, said a spokesman for the National Ambulance Service, Pal Gyoerfi.
The more severely injured were transported to hospitals in Budapest, Debrecen and Miskolc, and those with less injuries to the hospital in Eger. Among the seriously injured is the person who is currently replacing the director of the power plant, the Index portal reported. Index also obtained information that the power plant is operating smoothly, the explosion does not threaten the dam, and the electricity supply has not been interrupted.
