The prosecutor's office discontinued one of the threads of the investigation into the tragic fire at the Mesko arms plant in Skarżysko-Kamienna (Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship). Investigators concluded that the event “did not pose a threat to the health, lives of many people or significant property.” However, the investigation into the death of a 59-year-old plant employee is continuing.
A fire at the Mesko arms factory in Skarżysko-Kamienna broke out in June. An explosion occurred while three employees were performing “activities related to moving rocket fuel containers.” A 59-year-old employee was killed and another was injured.
According to prosecutor Daniel Prokopowicz, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Kielce, one of the threads of the investigation into this incident has been discontinued. The decision was made based on the opinion of a fire expert, who showed that the event did not cause a risk of fire spreading and did not pose a threat to the health, lives of many people or significant property.
The decision to discontinue the investigation is not final.

At the same time, the prosecutor's office continues to take evidence regarding an accident at work that resulted in the death of a 59-year-old employee of the plant and the injury of another. Investigators are determining whether safety procedures were followed at the plant and whether the accident could have been prevented.
Special commissions appointed by Mesko and Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa are also investigating the circumstances of the accident.
Mesko Plant, belonging to Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, is one of the largest ammunition producers in Poland.
This is not the only tragic accident at this factory. In 2021, two employees died as a result of two explosionsand the case is currently being considered by the court. The trial is taking place behind closed doors due to state secrecy. The prosecutor's office accused two people of failing to fulfill their duties.
