At a press conference, Andrzej Duda expressed his condolences to the relatives of two citizens who, as he said, “died as a result of an explosion, most likely a rocket, which fell on our territory six kilometers from the Polish-Ukrainian border.” – We work very quietly. President: It is highly probable that the Polish ambassador to NATO will request the activation of Article 4 of the Treaty
The president said he had informed the NATO secretary general, the US president, the UK prime minister and the German chancellor that the Polish ambassador to NATO, Tomasz Szatkowski, would attend the meeting of the North Atlantic Council on Wednesday. He noted that this meeting had already been scheduled in advance and would start at 10 at NATO Headquarters.
– It is highly probable that the ambassador will request the initiation of Article 4, i.e. allied consultations – informed the president.
Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty provides that “the Parties shall consult each other whenever, in the opinion of either of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of either Party is threatened”.
