Friday is another day when the fire threat in almost all of Poland will be extremely high – informs the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management. Experts appeal for responsible use of forests.
For several days now, Poland has been experiencing a heatwave, and rainfall has been almost non-existent. Low levels of surface and groundwater and very low humidity in forest litter contribute to increased fire risk.
IMWM: extreme threat
According to a map published by the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management, the forest fire threat in almost the entire country will be at an extremely high level on Friday. A lower threat, although described as very high and high, will be in Pomerania and the southern ends of the provinces: Lower Silesia, Silesia and Lesser Poland.
On Thursday, the risk of fire outbreak was also described as extreme in almost the entire country.
“Let's use it responsibly”
The weather situation will not change in the coming days. Almost the entire country is under IMGW warnings due to heat, which is possible even until Monday. A very high risk of fires is still expected in forests.
– Let's use the forest responsibly, parking vehicles in designated areas, not blocking fire access roads, so as not to hinder (…) rescue operations – appealed Ewelina Szklarzewska from the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Warsaw in an interview with TVN24. Białystok– We absolutely do not use fire, we do not smoke cigarettes, we do not leave glass bottles – she emphasized.
